The Mirror of Nature

5 Day Residential in South West France

Number of participants: max 14

Fee: £600 plus €50 camping

In this programme we learn how nature can be a teacher and mirror of the psyche. By breaking with the routines of our daily lives and immersing ourselves in nature, we are exposed to and begin to attend to the manifestations and processes of the natural world. As our internal narrative subsides, the quiet voice of intuition can be heard, and insights into our own nature and predicaments can emerge.

We will come together to sit in circle and share teachings and stories. We help you to work with your Intent, as you explore ways of empowering yourself to manifest that Intent in the world, thus bringing your gifts back home to your people.

You will learn about the Four Shields or directions of human nature, the nature-based system we use to help navigate the symbolic landscape of psyche and nature combined. Each day we focus on a different Shield, and participants spend a portion of the day walking or simply being in nature contemplating a specific question or theme, based upon the qualities of the Shield we are working on. After your contemplative 'medicine' walks, we gather to witness and tell the stories of your forays into the symbolic landscape of nature as a mirror of the psyche. Many of those individual stories will be mirrored by the guides.

You are invited to suspend disbelief for a short time and enter a magical realm in which all beings are our relations, where the past can be re-storied, old wounds may be healed, and new futures intended into being. We discuss the power of self-generated ceremony (symbolic enactments performed alone for a specific purpose) and participants will be invited to try devising their own (guidance will be offered for those who are new to the idea).

Participants camp for the duration of the programme because it greatly aids embodied immersion into nature. You will find it conducive to producing the heightened, receptive states needed to hear our intuitive inner voice clearly and to understand nature as a teacher. Our habitual routines and comforts are disrupted, which neuroscience now shows heightens the senses, causing us to notice everything around us with fresh eyes. Camping also encourages self-care and self-responsibility, thus increasing one's sense of self-efficacy and resilience, and enhancing self-leadership.

We invite participants to arrive from 10am onwards on day one to allow for travel, shopping, and setting up camp before we begin. You will be greeted on arrival and introduced to the land and facilities.

The programme commences at 5pm local time and a simple supper for all will be provided (please let us know about any dietary restrictions, allergies or intolerances beforehand). We aim to finish by noon on Monday to enable participants to travel home the same evening; however, you are very welcome to camp for an additional night at no extra charge and continue your onward journey the following day if preferred. This can be quite useful to do for re-grounding and beginning the incorporation process.

This course will be of particular interest to those interested in:
